Get to Know Me

My name is Gavin Cole, I grew up in Bloomingdale and attended school in Paw Paw Michigan. I grew up around horses and was riding before I could walk. We had a farrier come every 6 weeks to do our horses feet, but at the time I didn’t know much about the trade as a whole. Through 4-H I had the opportunity to take classes with a local blacksmith and knife maker and I fell in love with the art of moving metal. As I got closer to graduating high school, I realized that I wanted to combine my two greatest interests and become a Farrier.

I began attending Kentucky Horseshoeing school in April of 2023 after graduating High school a semester early. The school is an accredited collage and offered several different course options. I decided to take the longest one available to learn as much as possible from talented instructors and peers. I lived and studied in Kentucky for 9 months before graduating near the top of my class and winning best shod foot.

I have continued my education by being a member of the American Association of Farriers and going through their certification process. I have also had the opportunity to work with a variety of the top farriers in the country, as well as continued education through attending clinics and contests.

I have an amazing, supportive Fiancé who is constantly pushing me in my career. We have a full house including two dogs, two cats, and a couple of chickens. We both hold immense love for animals and our community.
